About the event
Geoffrey Nelson is a Bay Area-born trumpeter whose sound blends bebop tradition with modern expression. Immersed in jazz from an early age through SFJAZZ and Stanford Jazz youth programs, Geoffrey developed a deep connection to the trumpet’s emotional, technical, and historical dimensions. Influenced by greats like Clifford Brown, Wynton Marsalis, and John Coltrane, he pursued his passion at the Manhattan School of Music, studying under Jon Faddis, Tony Glausi, and Bruce Harris. His playing channels clarity, swing, and soul—offering music that’s rooted in tradition while celebrating the present.
