About the event
Gus Hurteau is a vibraphonist and multi-instrumentalist originally from Oakland, California. Now based in New York City, Gus honed his craft studying jazz performance at The New School and audio engineering at the City College of New York. Over the years, he has trained with acclaimed musicians such as Mike Mainieri, Joe Locke, and Warren Wolf, among others.
In 2025, Gus will perform with the Gene Perla Quartet at prominent jazz festivals across North America. He is also set to release a self-produced, vibraphone-fronted metal album—a bold project that showcases his versatility as a multi-instrumentalist. Despite his New York base, Gus maintains strong ties to the Bay Area jazz scene, returning several times a year for performances and collaborations. Blending technical mastery with a spirit of innovation, Gus continues to push boundaries in jazz and beyond.
We are thrilled to welcome Gus Hurteau for his debut at Stookey's Blue Room!
