Maralisa Jazz Trio

Maralisa is a Bay Area native and accomplished jazz/soul singer and songwriter, frontwoman of psych-soul band Space Captain (Tru Thoughts Records) and a graduate from The New School for Jazz in New York. Her distinct sound and timbre flow seamlessly through genre, creating a world of her own with a focus on the heart and emotion of a song. She has performed alongside artists including Khruangbin, BADBADNOTGOOD, Ghostface Killah and Nick Hakim and played at notable venues including Rough Trade and Pier 17 in New York and Teragram Ballroom in LA. Her jazz group, featuring seasoned Bay Area musicians Jay Sanders on piano, Eric Markowitz on bass and James Gallagher on drums, play a mix of classic standards, bossa and throwback soul inspired by vocal greats including Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse and Julie London.
