NICO MARTINEZ TRIO

Nico Martinez is a professional double bassist, electric bassist, and bandleader born and raised in Davis, California, where his love for jazz took root in junior high school. After performing professionally in the Sacramento area through high school, he headed to New York City to study with world-renowned bassists Ben Wolfe and Gerald Cannon at The Juilliard School, earning his Master's in Music. Now back on the West Coast and firmly rooted in the San Francisco Bay Area, Nico has made significant strides in the local scene while maintaining a national presence — performing at esteemed venues such as Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Blue Note NYC, The Monterey Jazz Festival, and NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts — bringing creative musical ideas, superb technique, and a refined sense of taste to every stage he graces.
