About the event
Smith Dobson comes from a celebrated family of musicians, including his father, pianist Smith Dobson IV; his mother, vocalist Gail Dobson; and his sister, singer Sasha Dobson. Growing up in Santa Cruz, Smith started playing drums at age 2 and performed his first gig in second grade alongside his family.
At 19, he moved to San Francisco and quickly immersed himself in the jazz scene, collaborating with legends like Hal Stein, Noel Jewkes, and Ben Goldberg. By 20, he had added saxophone and vibraphone to his repertoire, becoming known as a versatile drummer and saxophonist.
Ben Goldberg. He has performed at SFJAZZ Center and internationally in Berlin, Paris, and New York, including a recent appearance at Birdland with his sister. In addition to music, Dobson is also a writer and visual artist, continually expanding his creative horizons.
We are thrilled to welcome Gus Hurteau for his debut at Stookey's Blue…
